Big Games for Wii U
Huge titles announced for Nintendo's newest console
Published on 04/02/2013

I'm not a big fan of Wii U. As much as it pains me to say it, nothing I have seen so far for Nintendo's latest home console has me impressed, and I remain entirely unconvinced by the system's capabilities. It's a sorry state of affairs, but the recent Nintendo Direct announcements may have changed all that.

A console lives and dies on its software rather than its hardware, and up to now, there really hasn't been anything worth talking about. But Nintendo were clearly holding back, and the recent Nintendo Direct was a mini-E3 all by itself. Amazing release followed another amazing release, and by the year's end, it would appear Nintendo's console fortunes may have turned around. I know I'm more interested in getting one with the announcement of Wind Waker HD and Yarn Yoshi!

To celebrate these new games, Nintendo Life asked me to produce an article looking at the various retro games that can be played on the Virtual Console. It was a fun and different style of article to write, and one I enjoyed doing.

I look at Zelda, Mario and Fire Emblem amongst other big franchises.
