Hands-On with GRID 2
I get behind the wheel of the sequel to my favourite racing game ever

GRID was one of those racing games that just did everything right. The handling was great, the tracks were well chosen and the range of classes were superb. Oh, and there was perhaps the greatest damage model ever created. It was a game that redefined what it meant to be a racing game, and remains my favourite racing game ever.

So naturally I was excited when Codemasters eventually decided to make a sequel, and I was lucky enough to try it out at this year's Eurogamer Expo. And it's good. Very good.

While the build I tried was a very early version, it's already clear that it is everything that made GRID great, but with the added bonus of everything the team has learnt from DiRT and F1. It's looking set to be a brilliant and worthy sequel, and I can't wait to play the full game next Summer.

Codemasters' original Race Driver: GRID was something of a sleeper hit for the company. Steady sales and positive word of mouth have promoted the game well past traditional sales time scales, and with good reason, due in part to it being a quality racing game. After a long wait, a sequel is finally coming, and I was fortunate enought to go hands-on with GRID 2 at this year's Eurogamer Expo. Can it beat the original?
