Celebrating 2011
My top 10 games of 2011 and New Year wishes
Published on 28/12/2011

It's that time of the year again! The time where we look back at the past 12 months and realise that despite all the complaints, the last year wasn't actually that bad in terms of game releases. This year we have been spoilt, with big releases in the form of Skyward Sword on Wii and Portal 2 on HD platforms. Then of course there's the little matter of a brand new Nintendo handheld hitting the market, and despite the slump, we've had some cracking games released on it. Ocarina of Time 3D, Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land are stellar titles in their own right, and mixed with a brand new system, it's an incredible line-up to have.

So what made it out on top this year? You can probably guess but the rest of the list may not be so obvious. There's a good mix of genres and franchises in there this year, along with some big anniversary celebrations, so the end result may surprise you. Or not.

All that's left to say now is have a great New Year and see you all in 2012. Be sure to check out my 2012 predictions at the weekend in the Opinion Herd and then check back in the New Year for more great Nintendo coverage! See you then!
