Zelda Timeline unveiled
The story of Link is put into order at last
Published on 21/12/2011

The release of the Zelda timeline is something that fans of the series have been eagerly anticipating for years, and now, finally, the timeline is here. And it's not what anyone expected. That's not to say it's not a great timeline, but the revelation of a three-way timeline split post Ocarina of Time has taken most of the fanbase by surprise.

I for one though am happy with the timeline. The placement of Minish Cap and Four Swords pre-OoT makes sense, as do the Child and Adult timelines (although Four Swords Adventures did take some convincing...). The third timeline creates a nice reason for the classic games to exist - after all, these games were created before a timeline was even hinted at. However I'm not entirely fond of Link failing, he is the Hero of Time after all.

I'm currently working on an article examining the timeline, so keep an eye out for that!

Hyrule Historia: Zelda Timeline Revealed

After years of debates and discussion, the Zelda series finally has an official timeline. Taken from the recently released Hyrule Historia, the timeline presents a reasonably unknown theory, in the form of a three-way split post-Ocarina of Time. The release of the timeline is naturally big news, and Zelda fans have been poring over the details since its release to help explain the new order. To help you visualise the timelime, I have created a graphical flow chart of the games in this article.
