Kid Icarus - Nintendo's Next Big Franchise?
Whether planned or not, Nintendo have fallen into a routine with their first party releases. We always see a major Mario title, we always see a Zelda title and inbetween we see Metroid and Kirby titles. But this looks set to change with the release of Kid Icarus: Uprising on 3DS. Thanks to a dedicated effort from Sakurai and his team, Uprising reinvents the Kid Icarus world, creating not only an amazing game, but also the potential for a new first-party franchise. |

Is Nintendo Over-Reliant on Mario?
The last few years have seen an unheard of number of core Super Mario titles being released, with Nintendo using the series' mass appeal to help drive system sales against all the odds. But with this recent influx of Mario games comes a problem - are Nintendo simply becoming too reliant on Mario, and will the yearly stream of Super Mario titles, a series traditionally only appearing every couple of years, ultimately reduce the quality of the innovation? And what of the other game series? How are they being affected by Nintendo's sudden reliance on Mario? |
